summer memories

guest blogging

I’m a guest blogger over at MiniMakMakings.  Check me out, all famous and guest blogging.  heh.

(oh, ok, I’ve known MiniMak for years and I know her in real life.  SO?)

I feel a need to apologize for the craptactular pictures I posted on her blog.  I had envisioned different pictures, then I realized that I’d have to take those pictures and that taking different pictures could potentially take years.  I didn’t think MiniMak wanted to wait years although now I’m thinking my crap pictures are taking away from the actual post itself and it’s annoying me.

That’s a lot of angst for a post about crafting.

Now I get to obsessively check MiniMak’s blog for comments like I obsessively check my own (even though I get email notices.  Does anyone else do that?!)

local tourist::englishman river regional park

I am fortunate enough to live with a regional park basically in my backyard and last week my neighbour, the kids, Mom and I took a stroll down to the river through the park.  It is stunningly beautiful, although I took some mighty bad photos so you’ll just have to believe me.  And also believe that there is a river since I failed to take any actual pictures of it.

Having a snack

Another option is to come and visit and we can go for walk.

one of the hatchery channels that feeds into the river

We access the park from a path at the end of the road I live on that drops down into the river valley right next to a hatchery.  There are a pile of paths that criss-cross the park along the river and it is so peaceful and beautiful to walk down there.  My neighbour took us on a new route this time, and we found this perfect swim spot with soft sand and a nice little swimming hole officially known as The Reason Amber Is Never Moving.  One of these days, if the summer ever gets hot, I’m forcing Steve to carry a huge backpack of essentials (and Claire, no doubt) down to the river so we can spend the day sitting on this random, perfect river beach with the kids.  Heaven.

eating salmon berries. bears love these...

Of course, the random bear attack that happened this weekend not too far from here, and then seeing the stump a bear scratched the hell out of while on our walk does give me pause.  We should probably carry bear spray.

***
I’m stealing wordless wednesday from Laura (who stole it herself, although she tells me it has been in the blogsphere for a while).  I also  have to take a minute to tease Laura, aka wordygirl, who has yet to post an actual wordless Wednesday (sorry Laura, couldn’t help it!).  It is also an idea that soulemama is doing, although soulemama does hers on Fridays and calls it {this moment} I like the alliteration of wordless wednesday so hence why I’m going to do it on Wednesdays.  At any rate, I aim to post a picture that captures a special moment from my week that I want to remember. It’s a cool idea and with any luck, I’ll remember to do it.  Next week, no words.

summer lovin’…

Considering that I had five entire days where The Toddlers were on a road trip with Papa to Calgary (why yes, the man IS insane) it’s pretty pathetic I didn’t update.  I was too busy drinking several bottles of wine and dancing naked down the hall.

Actually, turns out my littlest wee one takes up the majority of my time. The Toddlers just happen to be a lot louder and are mobile which gives the illusion of taking up time but it really doesn’t.  I can hear them and see them just fine while I do other things like cook dinner and fold laundry.  I have yet to master the skill of  baby carrying/breastfeeding/diaper changing and doing something else so even though the house managed to stay clean once I cleaned it because little hands weren’t wildly touching every surface, I didn’t get much else done.

you're blaming me?!

Although I suppose I could also breastfeed and update the blog.

I do have several blog post ideas bouncing around in my head, and one in the works to post over at a friends blog (details to come) so don’t go!  Please stay!  Check back!  I’ve also toured locally!  There are blogs to come, I swear it.

Sadly, tomorrow is my last day of “maternity leave” and I’ll be doing the part-time, work-from-home thing I was doing before Anna was born which might mean I’ll never post again.

Why yes, this is just boring filler to make you think I’ve posted when really all I’ve done is tell you that I’m going to post.  I imagine that’s annoying.
